What to do if you have a burst geyser

When your geyser bursts you will be acutely aware of it. The water from the getyser will escape its confines and cascade to the area below it. This wil generally mean a ruined ceiling and if there is anything below, chances are this will get wet and be ruined by water draining from the geyser.

If the geyser bursts the you need to:

• Turn of the water supply to your house, this will prevent continued water flow into the damged geyser, in turn adding to the damage already caused.
  
• Once you have turned off the water supply to the geyser swith of the geyser at the electrical power switches if you do not have one or cannot find it switch off the main power to the house.
  
• Open the hot water taps, this will allow any remaining water to drain from the geyser and prevent any further water damage.
• Last but certainly not least Call a plumber!!

Once you have had the geyser replaced you will need to repair all the damage that was done by the burst geyser.
